Issues that women victims of crime face

Empowering Women, Fighting Injustice

We are a campaign whose motive is to help raise awareness and provide information about women victims of crime. The goal of our campaign is to give a voice and encourage these women, alongside aiming to create a more secure and welcoming society for all individuals through education, support, and action.

Statistics

- In the United States nearly 3 out of 10 women (29%) have reported having been sexually assaulted and raped, physically abused, and/or stalked by their partner and have mentioned that it has significantly impacted their day to day lives short and long term.

- Compared to this, 1 out of 4 women in England and Wales have reported domestic abuse from their partner or ex-partner in their lifetime, as well as in the United Kingdom between 2020 and 2022, 186 women were reported to have been murdered by men who were either their current partners or a past relationship

- 81% of women who are survivors of rape, stalking or physical abuse by intimate partners have reported a variety of serious effects on many aspects of their lives including their new relationships, day to day functioning, their capability to work, and their physical and mental health. Many of these survivors have reported having chronic physical injuries, anxiety, sadness, and PTSD. Other victims may be found to be losing their jobs, access to multiple support systems, and sometimes even relocate where they live.

-Lastly, it was found that only 24% of women have reported to the police due to some kind of domestic abuse, that is, on average,e a call to the police is received every second. I know that it is good that these stated women have reported, but it is estimated that domestic abuse situations happen at least 7 times before a woman builds the courage to finally leave. I hope that this campaign will give women more hope and encouragement to call the police, making the percentage of women reporting domestic abuse 100%, and also give women the most amount of support to never let this abuse happen to them!
